The Giver Book vs. Movie
Many  people say that a book should always be better than the movie, but  I disagree.  Many people say that The Giver book is better than the movie. But I think that The Giver movie is better than the book. The movie does follow the book, but it adds a little more twist and suspense, therefore making the movie better. I think that The Giver movie is better than the book because it has more twists, it better explains what is going on throughout the story, and  it has more conflict.
I think that The Giver movie is better than the book because it has more twists.  For example, Jonas and Fiona love each other causing Fiona to help Jonas escape the community. This caused Fiona to get released. In the book, this never happened.  Also, instead of Asher being in charge recreation in the book, Asher is a drone flyer in the movie. Because of this Asher can find Jonas when Jonas is in Elsewhere. Finally, in the movie, the Chief Elder is a main character and she is a villain. Because of all these reasons, the movie is more unpredictable than the book.
Another reason I think the movie is better than the book is it better explains what is going on throughout the story. For example, in the book, it is written in the third person and in the movie it is in first person (Jonas as the narrator.) With Jonas explaining what is going on, it is easier for the viewer to understand. Also, while reading the book I could not figure out what the community looked like, but with the movie I could. Finally in the book, while Jonas was going to Elsewhere, I did not know exactly what Elsewhere was, but in the movie it was clear that Elsewhere was the normal world.
The final reason I think the movie is better than the book is because it has more conflict. I think that every story should have conflict. For example, the Chief Elder is a villain in the movie causing Jonas to be in danger because she could find him and kill him. Also in the movie Asher catches Jonas while he is escaping and Asher drops him in a river rapid. Finally, in the book Jonas does not get chased by anyone while he is escaping to Elsewhere. But in the movie, Jonas gets chased by Asher (causing them to physically fight), and guards, but Fiona helps him escape. These conflicts make the movie much more exciting.
As you can see, a book does not always have to be better than a movie. Just with one little change, a movie could be better than the book. In The Giver there are very few little changes, but they cause big consequences causing the movie to be better and more exciting than the book. I think that The Giver movie is better than the book because it has more twists, it better explains what is going on throughout the story, and it has more conflicts.

Memories Forever
The Landscape of Memory
By, Milton Meltzer

The Landscape of Memory is about different people who have a phototgraphic memory. I thought that I would not want to have a photographic memory because then I would have to remember all the bad memories also. I wonder how people get a photographic memory?
Walking, Just Walking?
The Pedestrian
By, Ray Bradbury

The Pedestrian takes place in 2052 a.d. and no one absolutely no one goes outside anymore except for Mr. Leonard Mead. One night Mr. Mead was taking a walk just like he has been for the past ten years, and the Police found him and took him to a mental hospital. I thought that the only reason that the cops took him was because they were the only cops left so they just wanted to get some action. I wonder if everytime someone was walking if the police would take them to a mental hospital too?

The Ending
The Giver
By, Lois Lowry

The Giver at the end had a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger really made me think about the different endings that the book could have. I wonder if Gabe and Jonas find another family in Elswhere and they end up living a whole new life?

Weak,Hungry,and Lonley
The Giver
By, Lois Lowry

Jonas and Gabe have not eaten and all they have done is ride the bike in the lonley landscape. I felt really bad for Jonas because he had to take care of himself and Gabe. I wonder what would happen if Elswhere had no one there and there was no food or anything? What would Jonas do?

Jonas took Gabe on his escape to Elsewhere because Gabe has to be realeaseds. Jonas is taking a bike with Gabe on the back to Elsewhere. I wonder if Elsewhere is the normal world?

The Plan
The Giver
By, Lois Lowry

Jonas and The Giver have a plan to get Jonas into Elsewhere. I really wanted to know what Elsewhere was so I was very glad that Jonas is going. I wonder if Elsewhere is the normal world?
